FOX-C aims to design and develop the first functional prototype of a flexible optical cross-connect, with fine switching granularity at the optical subcarrier level

Key Objectives:

  • Definition of the next generation flexible optical networking functions and capabilities enabled by the introduction of flexible optical nodes.
  • Definition of the flexible data transport requirements for multi-band/multi-carrier formats supporting the three levels of switching granularity.
  • Design and development of a multi-granular flexible optical node.
  • Assembly and test of the FOX-C flexible optical networking system
